Insulating tanks and vessels using polyurethane panels is yet another building service offered by G&R Insulating.
Tanks and Vessels can be insulated with polyurethane panels. The panels used also come in galvalume, galvanized, pre-painted and aluminum. The difference with these panels used, in comparison to the panels used for buildings is that there is only skin applied to one side of the panel. On the opposite side, the polyurethane is scored to give it the flexibility of forming around the tank. Stainless steel strapping is used to attach the panels to the tanks.
Another method would be to insulate them with your choice of insulation (Mineral Wool, Foamglas, Calcium Silicate, Urethane, and Fiberglass) and metal jacketing banded on with stainless steel strapping. When choosing the metal jacketing applied, you may require certain textures such as smooth, corrugated or stucco embossed metal. The most common insulations used are fiberglass and mineral wool.
How does insulating vessels and tanks help?
Adding the appropriate building and skirting around production tanks to protect the meter controls, and properly insulating storage tanks and vessels helps improve all aspects of the oil and gas industry by effectively increasing cost savings, improving process control by preventing tanks from freezing or being heated by solar radiation, and increasing safety levels for both interior and exterior factors.
Improve substance temperature controls for P-tanks, Vessels and storage tanks for the oil and gas industry in Western Canada
Large storage tanks are generally used for raw materials, fuels, and end products. Small tanks or vessels are used to temporarily store (semi solid/liquid) products. Vessels are another major component in installations for various uses in almost all fields of the oil and gas industry.
While production (P-tanks), vessels, piping and storage tanks all have a slightly different use in the materials they transport, which dictates the type of insulation and treatment they require, the basic benefits of ensuring the proper insulation of pipes, vessels, tanks, and the associated meter controls are pretty much universal.
When treated with the correct materials and insulation methods the advantages are overwhelming improvements in:
Reduction of heat loss
Cost savings
Reduction of CO2 emissions
Frost protection
Process control: ensuring the stability of the process temperature
Noise reduction
Condensation prevention
(Personal) Protection against high temperatures
