G&R Insulating supplies many types of insulating services in Alberta to suit all needs. The most common insulating service offered would be fiberglass insulation. Fiberglass insulation is used to install on hot and cold piping systems. It is rated for systems up to 850° F (454° C). Fiberglass insulation is easy to install and used for thermal and acoustic applications. Fiberglass insulation is durable and affordable. It does not accelerate corrosion on steel and will not sustain mold growth. There are various thicknesses available from 1” to 3”, depending on the surface temperature of the piping. Our insulating services include determining the proper thickness to use. Fiberglass insulation has many eco-friendly features. The greenest features of industrial pipe and vessel insulations include:
The most common applications are on valves, flanges, exhaust systems, heat tracing, heat exchangers, wellheads, tanks and vessels. G&R’s insulating services include covering the insulation with aluminum cladding and fastened with stainless fabstraps to protect the insulation from weathering.
Another insulating service that G&R supplies is the installation of mineral wool insulation. Mineral wool is good for piping running temperatures up to 1200°F (650°C). It is lightweight and minimizes heat loss, which helps to reduce operating costs and energy savings. Mineral wool has low dust when working with it, is non-combustible and mold resistant. Mineral wool can be installed on hot surfaces without having to shutdown and restart. It maintains its structural integrity under harsh operating conditions.
Foamglas insulation is a light and rigid material made up of millions of completely sealed glass cells. Foamglas insulation is ideal for low temperature pipe, tanks and vessels, but can be fairly costly. Foamglas is ideal for:
Calcium silicate has exceptional structural strength and abuse resistant. Calcium silicate is recommended for use on power generation industries and petrochemical where pipe and equipment operate up to 1200°F (650°C). It is available in thicknesses from 1”-3” and is fast and easy to install.
Snake Wrap offers an R12 insulation value and helps with noise reduction. This product is ideal for tubing lines, lines, temporary lines, and lines that need to be accessed frequently. This product is easily installed and remains flexible at very cold temperatures and will soften when temperatures exceed 220°F (104°C). Snake Wrap is spiral wrapped on the heat source and fastened using straps or tape. The covering is durable and excellent against punctures and tears. Plunger lift blankets are made of the same material as snake wrap and also easily installed.
Reusable Insulated Blankets
Insulated covers are user-friendly and can be installed or removed quickly. The covers are removable and reusable making them cost-effective. Covers are custom designed for proper fit and reduced heat loss and can be repaired or modified if changes or damage occur. The covers are durable, flexible, flame and chemical resistant. When used on equipment with high operating temperatures, the outside remains relatively cool providing personal protection to the workers near the equipment. All covers come with an identification tag to easily identify location and equipment the cover was specifically built for.
Tracer wrap insulation is commonly used on stainless steel tubing lines, as temporary insulation, hard access areas to allow access for unions and to maintain continuous operating temperatures while providing personal protection.
Covers and tracer wrap are fabricated with material good for temperatures from -40° – 500°F.
